Play about trafficking to donate profits to Eaves

On the 22nd and 23rd September 2012 Ophelia Circus, a London based Production Company, is putting on six performances of ‘The House of Secrets’; a contemporary play about sex trafficking, and has chosen to donate all ticket sales to Eaves.

Alice Johnson, Director at Ophelia Circus, says…

“The House of Secrets is an in-house extra-ordinary performance about sex trafficking.

“Audiences are invited to a secret location, and guided round a residential house in a promenade performance. Different actresses and actors will portray the lives of traffickers and women trafficked into the UK, each portrayed in different ways, such as physical dance, interactive theatre, and more. The performance has been developed to raise awareness about the issue in a very different way, engaging the audience and bringing them into the heart of a world which usually exists behind closed doors.

”‘The House of Secrets’ has been developed to raise awareness about sex trafficking, and Ophelia Circus strongly identifies with the work of Eaves’ Poppy Project. We were very keen that the performance should signpost audiences to relevant organisations that fight against sex trafficking, as well as bring the issue into public light. We have chosen to donate all proceeds from ticket sales to Eaves because we believe in the work they do to support victims of sex trafficking, in terms of making them feel safe, advocating on their behalf and enabling them to rebuild their lives.”

Reviews…

“A realistic, insightful performance depicting the true horrors experienced by the innocent victims of sexual exploitation. It brought tears to my eyes.” Rachael Smith, member of Cambridge Act for Justice (supported by national anti-trafficking organisation, Hope for Justice).

“No matter how much or little one knows about human trafficking, there is nothing to prepare you for ‘The House of Secrets’! The portrayal of the story of women who have been trafficked left a lasting impact on me. It was realistic, interactive and thought provoking.” Olinka Gould, member of Cambridge Act for Justice.
