Exiting Prostitution Good Practice workshop now accredited by OCN London

We are delighted to announce that our Exiting Prostitution Good Practice training is now accredited by Open College Network London, for two credits at level two. This means that all learners who attend the course and complete the assessment tasks will receive a recognised qualification.

We ran a pilot session of our newly accredited Exiting Prostitution training on 1st & 2nd of April, as an opportunity to try out our expanded material and new assessment tasks, and get feedback from our learners on how it all worked. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn from each other and to improve on what we deliver.

Our learners were drawn from a mix of voluntary sector organisations, and also included some Eaves staff members. The mix of expertise and experience among our guinea pigs meant we were given some excellent feedback which we’re excited to put into practice in upcoming sessions.

The accredited workshop now takes place over two full days (expanded from one and a half days) and covers a wide variety of material including:

  • Mainstream perceptions of prostitution, and the reality for our service users based on our research and frontline experience.
  • The law in the UK and internationally around prostitution
  • The roles of different agencies in supporting women involved in prostitution
  • How to develop effective policies and strategies around prostitution
  • Practical assessment tools to use with service users, and frontline good practice
  • An overview of trafficking indicators and how to support victims of trafficking.

By accrediting our Exiting Prostitution Good Practice workshop, which we have delivered to over 350 learners over the last five years, we hope to set a benchmark in support provision to women involved in prostitution. Our training is based on our over a decade’s experience of providing specialist support to this client group, and our academic research on women’s support needs when exiting from prostitution.

The new two day accredited training is available for £200/person for voluntary organisations and £240/person for statutory organisations. We offer discounts for group bookings, and we can also deliver our training in-house at your organisation.

For more information, or to book a place, please contact Julia Hilliard. The next sessions of this training will take place on 6th & 7th May, 20th & 21st May, and 3rd & 4th June.
