Eaves hosts seminar on ‘Making Police & Crime Commissioners work for women’

On 15th November 2012 the public across England and Wales will elect Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) who will be accountable for how crime is tackled in their police force area. In response to this, on Wednesday 19th September 2012 Eaves hosted a seminar in London to explore ideas and discuss how the women’s sector could engage with PCCs to try and influence decision making, highlight women’s needs and set violence against women and girls as a priority.

Over 30 individuals from the public and voluntary sectors came along to the seminar to hear from our speakers and engage in discussion. A big thank you to the speakers for making the event such a success; Jain Lemom from The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, Ellie Cumbo from Victim Support, Vera Baird QC Police and Crime Commissioner Labour Candidate for Northumbria, Janet Veitch OBE Vice Chair of the End Violence against Women Coalition and the chair of the panel, Heather Harvey from Eaves.

One attendee said…

“I leave this seminar with a clear idea of the policy changes that will affect PCCs. It was a very informative and enjoyable seminar and it would be good to have a follow up seminar to review progression.”
