Interview skills workshop great success
On Friday 20th July 2012 RBS (The Royal Bank of Scotland) employees Kat Webster-Dunstan and Alan Tierney ran an interview skills workshop for Eaves service users.
The half day workshop covered interview skills, exploring the various styles of interview questions and top tips before, during and after an interview. The participants were at very different points in their career journey, and ranged from women with multiple degrees to those who had left school at 16 with no qualifications.
Using participatory approaches including role play techniques in groups and individually to practice interviews enabled participants to open up and share their concerns, hopes and interview experiences. All participants would recommend the workshop shop to a friend and almost all agreed that they feel better equipped to deal with an interview type situation.
Alan Tierney says….
“Many of the women who took part said they took a lot of confidence from the fact that what we covered wasn’t rocket science. It was fantastic that after the workshop most of the women stayed to talk to us on a one-to-one basis, so that they could cover specific queries and we could offer our insight and experiences which they found really useful.
“Both Kat and I found it an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience and would recommend that anyone else who wanted to get involved in a similar exercise get in touch with the charity. It is a great feeling knowing that you have given someone else the tools to help them further their career and make a real change in their lives.”
Comments from the workshops participants…
“This workshop has really improved my confidence and helped me to understand that I need to ask questions.”
“I am happy with the outcome of the workshop because now I feel much more confident in having an interview.”
“Really Good Workshop, Thank you!”
We are very grateful to Kat and Alan for donating their time and skills. This workshop has been a huge hit with the women.
