Acclaimed writer runs creative writing workshop for Eaves
On Wednesday 11th July 2012, the award winning poet and novelist Jenni Fagan was a guest facilitator for a creative writing workshop for Eaves’ service users.
The two hour workshop was a fun and relaxed way for women who have used Eaves’ services to explore creative writing and poetry. They learnt different creative writing techniques and were able to practice these in a supportive and informal atmosphere.
Jenni is a rising literary star, and has lots of experience as a writer in residence; teaching and helping others to develop their skills. Her debut novel, The Panopticon, has been selected as one of the 2012 best debuts in the world by Waterstones. She has also been nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize, won several arts awards and her poetry collection The Dead Queen of Bohemia won the 3AM Poetry Book of the Year. Jenni has been nominated Stylist magazine’s cult author to watch and the Scotsman announced her as a major new literary star.
Comments from some of the workshop participants…
“I would love for this class to be weekly because it is nice to share work that ordinarily would be isolated.”
“I found this workshop very useful and interesting, and it helps me in developing myself.”
Our thanks to Jenni for delivering the workshop, the women who attended had a fantastic time discovering their hidden writing talents with an experienced and inspiring author.
